HALLOWEEN OBSESSED: THE MISCONCEPTION OF WITCHES
Four modern day witches unmask the myths of witchery and magick.
IF YOU WERE A WITCH, what kind would you be? You did know there were distinctions, didn't you? Whether you knew that or didn't know, that is part of the reason this documentary exists, and if ever you've had a question about witches, this film is for you. Halloween Obsessed: The Misconception of Witches delves deep into these broom-riding wonders' common misconceptions, history, and practices.
HEADS UP - WITCHES ARE NOT ALL DEVIL WORSHIPPERS.
Ever wondered about the symbolism associated with witchcraft? How about the true meaning of the pentagram or the notion that witches are all children of the devil? Heads up - witches are not all devil worshippers, and, in fact, they don't even believe in the devil in most cases. These are some of the tidbits I learned from watching this forty-minute documentary narrated by Linda Palmer herself. The four guest speakers of this show are all from different walks of witchery, and each goes in-depth about what it means to be a witch for them.
I was particularly fascinated with the history segments since I'm a history buff, and I'll admit that I wanted more. But what there was regarding the history of witches was insightful and entertaining. The history and the "why the broom" were also interesting to me and some of the historical information I didn't know. Other areas of note are the true meaning of Halloween and the different communities of witches.
MOST PEOPLE SHOULD FEEL RIGHT AT HOME WATCHING THIS MOVIE.
The overall setup of Halloween Obsessed: The Misconception of Witches is that of a standard modern documentary. The footage, stock footage, guest interviews, and the narration by Palmer herself. There's nothing odd or new about how this film is laid out, but it is done well. Most people should feel right at home watching this movie and have no issues keeping pace with what's happening onscreen. Linda Palmer's film would look right at home broadcast by your favorite cable provider or streamer.
THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE "HE SAID, SHE SAID" DOCUMENTARIES.
Halloween Obsessed: The Misconception of Witches is not one of those "he said, she said" documentaries. Its aim isn't to debunk but rather to educate its viewers. Linda Palmer and Barbara Dolny-Bombar are more interested in letting their viewers know the differences, practices, and history instead of anything that would be considered controversial or insulting. So if ever you've been curious, this would be a great place to start. I think four stars fit this film nicely.
